Eyelid Surgery Q & A

What is eyelid surgery?

Eyelid surgery can help you combat the signs of aging which commonly develop around the eyes. Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, helps reduce sagging of the upper eyelid and limit under-eye bags, giving your eyes a more youthful appearance.

Dr. Wise and Dr. Weber begin by making incisions along the natural creases of the upper lid, or directly under the lower eyelashes. They then separate the skin from the underlying tissue and extract the excess fat, skin, and muscle, leaving it smooth and tight.

Blepharoplasty procedures last anywhere from one to three hours and occur on an outpatient basis.

What is a brow lift?

A sagging, heavy brow can give others the false impression that you’re always unhappy or tired.

While everyone’s brows drop naturally with age, some people are genetically predisposed to a low or furrowed brow. As a result, they endure a lifetime of unnecessarily being told to cheer up or get some rest. A brow lift removes that burden, allowing you to feel confident that your face reflects your true feelings.

During the procedure, commonly performed on men and women between the ages of 35 and 70, Dr. Wise and Dr. Weber elevate the skin and underlying tissues of the upper face and may remove part of the muscle that causes frown lines between the brows. The result is a more youthful, relaxed, and refreshed appearance.

A brow lift repositions the eyebrows so that they sit in a more natural position on your face. Dr. Wise and Dr. Weber use a viewing apparatus called an endoscope, allowing the visibility required to make small adjustments to the muscles with minimal risk of damage to the nerves or hairline appearance.

Brow lift surgery is usually an outpatient service, as only a mild sedative and local anesthesia is necessary.
